Cheryl L. Ronk received her juris doctorate degree, Cum Laude, from the Thomas M. Cooley Law School in 1993. While there she was named the associate making the greatest contribution to the Thomas M. Cooley Law Review. She previously received her Bachelor of Science from Michigan State University. Ms. Ronk has served as a civil litigation attorney since being admitted to the Michigan Bar. Her practice has encompassed contracts, business, intellectual property and insurance defense law. Her practice has resulted in more than 20 trials with Ms. Ronk acting as lead trial attorney. She has also written and argued more than 30 successful appeals in both the Michigan Court of Appeals and the Michigan Supreme Court. The Michigan Supreme Court case of Monat v State Farm was named one of the most important Michigan Supreme Court decisions of the year by Michigan Lawyers Weekly. Additionally, Ms. Ronk is a contributor to Michigan Insurance Law and Practice, an attorney practice manual published by the Michigan Institute of Continued Legal Education.
Currently, Ms. Ronk is pursuing her LLM degree in intellectual property law at Michigan State University with an emphasis in internet law. Her thesis will focus on the application and ramifications of open license use on the internet, an issue of extreme importance to all businesses or organizations that utilize the internet. The intellectual property program has been ranked by U.S. News and World report as one of the top, cutting edge such programs in the nation.
Ms. Ronk is admitted to practice in the State of Michigan, the Michigan Court of Appeals and the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan.
