Leon J. Liggitt earned his Juris Doctorate from Valparaiso Univiversity School of Law in Valparaiso, Indiana in 2003. Prior to that, in 2000, Mr. Liggitt obtained his bachelors degree from Indiana Wesleyan University in Marion, Indiana, where he studied History, Political Science and Religion.
In 2001 Mr. Liggitt began his legal career as an intern at a general practice firm in Crown Point, Indiana, that specialized in Municipal Law. He practiced as an associate with that firm until 2005, after receiving his license to practice law in October of 2003. During his time there, Mr. Liggitt was involved in representing municipal bodies in defending tort litigation, settling and defending employment disputes, and drafting and enforcing municipal ordinances. He also had significant experience in the areas of collections and family law.
In 2005, Mr. Liggitt and his family moved to the South Bend, Indiana area where he was hired as a St. Joseph County Deputy Prosecutor. While there, he handled a broad range of cases, including domestic abuse, burglary, theft and forgery, and he represented the State in over thirty (30) bench and jury trials.
Mr. Liggitt has practiced with Kopka, Pinkus, Dolin & Eads since September of 2006. Currently, he focuses on insurance defense litigation, with further focus on cases arising from automobile accidents.
Mr. Liggit has been admitted to practice law in the State of Indiana, the United State District Court for the Northern and Southern Districts of Indiana.
