Deborah A. Kapitan

Deborah A. Kapitan received her Mediation/Arbitration certification in 2006. As a deputy prosecuting attorney in Lake County , Ms. Kapitan prosecuted over fifty felony jury trials. She was then appointed as Magistrate for Lake Superior Court Division III and worked there for over six years. As a Magistrate, Ms. Kapitan presided over a very active jury trial calendar and heard jury and bench trials on a daily basis. Hearing many small claims cases as a Magistrate presented her with the opportunity to talk to lay people about legal issues and their impact on the case being presented. As an attorney with Kopka, Pinkus, Dolin & Eads since 2003, Ms. Kapitan is back in the courtroom trying cases. Her vast trial experience from the prosecutor's table, defense table and the bench affords her a unique perspective into cases. Ms. Kapitan's trial experience, combined with her practical experience and ability to talk with lay people about legal concepts, make her an effective mediator.

James A. Milstone

Received his Mediation/ Arbitration certification in 1995 and was re-certified in 2007. He has been engaged to act as an intermediary, and as an arbitrator by FEMA. He has also informally acted as mediator on cases. Mr. Milstone has been an advocate at more than 300 cases, including pre-filing and post-judgement mediations and has appeared in both state and federal court. He has an excellent reputation for litigation as well as mediation. He has expertise in personal injury, tort, contract, bankruptcy and creditor's rights cases.
